Asking Questions in an Interview 

By asking insightful and pertinent questions, you will demonstrate your seriousness about the job and the fact you have prepared well. The interview process is an opportunity for you to find out the information you need and impress the interviewer.

At the earliest opportunity, you should ask about the precise role and duties involved and then use this information to tailor your subsequent answers, relating them back to your skills and experience.

Types of question the Interviewer may ask:

  • How would you describe yourself?
  • What interests you about this job?
  • What interests you about our company?
  • What skills do you have that make you right for this job?
  • Who was your most difficult manager and why?
  • Do you prefer to work as an individual or as part of a team?
  • What are your three biggest professional achievements and why?
  • What motivates you?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Types of question you may wish to ask:

  • What would I be expected to accomplish in the first six months of taking up the appointment?
  • What are the greatest challenges of the job?
  • What are the dynamics of the team I would be working with?
  • What are the training opportunities?
  • What are the company’s current objectives?
